Axiom: Self-evident truth.
Theory: An idea that is presented as possibly true but that is not known or proven to be true.
Principle: A basic truth. A fact of nature that explains how something works or why something happens.
Law: A statement of fact, deduced from observation, to the effect that a particular natural or scientific phenomenon always occurs if certain conditions are present. Eg., The Second Law of Thermodynamics
